Australia Penalty Rates Calculator – Weekend & Public Holiday Pay

Weekend & public holiday penalty rate calculator

How it is calculated

Each part of your week is paid as base hourly rate × multiplier × hours. Multipliers differ by award (the minimum conditions for each industry) and by weekday, Saturday, Sunday, public holiday or night. Adding up every part gives your gross pay for the week.

Casual employees get a 25% casual loading instead of paid leave. In the awards below the casual multipliers already include this 25%, which is why the casual weekday rate shows as 125%.

The table and example below use adult Level 1 rates from 2026-07-01. If you are on a higher level or under 21, your base rate is different, so check your payslip and the Fair Work pay guide as well.
